If you are looking for exquisite gourmet cuisine at a modest price, make Café Rakka your next meal!
Babaganush—Grilled chunky eggplant, tahini, garlic, fresh lemon juice and olive oil
Chicken Kebab—Char grilled marinated chicken breast
Fattouch Salad— Mixed greens, tomato and toasted pita; served with vinaigrette and tahini
Rakka Mix Grill Platter— Kafta or gyro, chicken and shish kebab

My food took over 2 hours and was cold by the time it got there. They also gave me hummus and babaganoush without pita bread :(

Had to wait over an hour to get food (supposed to be 30-45min). Had the chicken kebab, sharwa, lentil soup and french fries. All rather bland. In sum, not worth the wait.

Fast and reliable, with very large portions. Never had a problem, although food is less expensive if you go in person and don't order through seamless.

The quality of the food was mostly high. The vegetables were fresh and the meat was high quality. The delivery was fast. Unfortunately the fries were really stale, they sent one of the orders as a pita instead of a wrap and the spinach pie was basically inedible. I probably wouldn't order again.

Generally good food all around. Baklava to die for.

I love Cafe Rakka! Really miss their location on Avenue B.. I've tried pretty much the entire menu in and out of the restaurant and everything is consistently good.

All I had was the baklava and it was weird. I mean in terms of the traditional contents of baklava: it does contain both honey and pistachio. However, every bite I took had weird hard bits in it impossible to chew. The optimist in me thinks these pieces are pistachio shells. Fingers crossed!

good solid food, have never had any issues with delivery. the pita sticks with hummus are delicious!

Love the food but they have incredibly rude staff. Ordered after getting home late a few months back. The owner delivered the food. He admonished me for ordering so late, clearly unaware that he has control over such things.

Best Mediterranean in the East Village on seamless by far. Also the cheapest, but that's really just by coincidence and is an added bonus

Awful... Ordered three appetizers and all were beyond underwhelming. Actually very unappetizing that I didn't take more than a few bites. Would definitely NOT order again.

excellent. I order from here all the time, and it is always great.

100% on the mark every time. The chicken kebab, the light yet robust falafel and the refreshing and tasty yogurt cucumber salad are terrific.
This native New Yorker couldn't recommend this hidden gem enough.

This place used to be great about 3 years ago. just ordered the Shawarma platter and this was not the delicious thinly sliced lamb I used to get but simply huge chunks of fat with barely any edible meat. Called to see what could be done and was basically yelled at. Basically I just threw $20 in the trash. I will never order from this place again. I was being very polite about what I consider to be very questionable meat they sent me (I've seen more tempting DOG FOOD) and I was immediately met with rudeness and treated like I was an idiot. Worst seamless experience. AVOID.

terribly burnt and dry chicken kabob and lamb kabobs.

I ordered a sandwich with no onion but got onion only and lots of it. My husband ordered falafel that was really dry. Not recommended.

Every SINGLE item I've ever ordered is a 10/10. I wish they offered cooking classes. I absolutely love and recommend Cafe Rakka.

The salad, hummus and proteins always taste fresh. Just wish the portions were a tad bit bigger. All in all a delicious delivery option.

The guys here probably think I'm insane cause I've ordered from here 3 times in the past week. I'm addicted. Get the grilled chicken platter with rice and hummus... omg. I've introduced all my friends to this food. Munchie approved.

The gyro was good except for the extremely small serving size of the sauces I paid extra for, and the hummus was the consistency of water. The smoothie was delicious.

the food is decent for when you dont have time to make food. However the service and the person on the other line when speaking to them to replace one item for another - they are horrendous. service sucks food is decent.

I was raised on middle eastern food cooked authentically by my father who grew up in Egypt... and let me just tell you, these guys, they do it right. Love cafe Rakka!

Ordered a Greek salad from here last night and it was pretty gross. Had a creamy Italian dressing on it not a balsamic or Taziki. I also got the feta dip which was indelible. I ate what I could if the salad and today was pretty sick. Not extreme food poisoning but def a version of it.

Ordered the Rakka platter + some vine leaves. I was in the mood to have a little bit of everything, and all of it was great. The falafel was really crispy, although it was a little salty. I'd probably opt for a different combination next time so the overall experience isn't so vinegary. But I'll definitely order again.

I ordered the falafel lunch special and the lentil soup. The food was cheap and came within the specified delivery time and that was the only redeemable quality. However, the fries arrived cold and soggy and almost like plastic. Even after reheating them in the oven they were inedible. I ordered a whole wheat pita with my soup, and got white. The bread was good, but the soup was just ok and I would not order it again. The falafel sandwich was also terrible. The falafel was hard and overcooked, and it came in a wheat tortilla and in nothing that resembled a pita. I ended up tossing it after a few bites it was that tasteless and bad. Won't be ordering from here again simply because of the quality. I guess you get what you pay for!

not good at all. overcooked meat and rice. don't do it
Posted 3 years ago by Tarek E.
The food came quickly. That is the best thing I can say about it. The sharmwa was aobut 50% fat and 50% meat. All in all, you should pass on this place.

Had the chicken kabob sandwich with a wheat wrap ... very tasty and seemed healthy!

This was fairly mediocre - to almost in edible. The kabobs we so overcooked as to be hard chunks. The white bean app was tasteless, the grape leaves mushy, the falafel overcooked, and the greek salad was hardly dressed. We asked for whole wheat pita and we didn't get it. We got whole wheat tortillas, which were fine. I guess you get what you pay for - it was one of the cheapest places we could find. Nota Bene: The gyros were great though, and the tzaziki and gyro in whole wheat tortillas saved the meal.

You get a lot of food for your money here. The sandwiches are excellent, and are made the way a sandwich should be - stuffed with meat. I order from here at least 3 times a week they always here in reasonable amount of time. The Shawarma is awesome.

so fresh, always really tastey. the lentil soup is amazing, the guys in the shop are always super friendly as well. love this place - best falafel in the east village

Some of the best Middle Eastern food in the E Vil. Creamy, nutty hummus and crisp, well-seasoned falafel anchor a menu of authentic, fresh, vegetarian-friendly salads, the best of which include the tangy/creamy foul moudamous. Not sure what happened to the wonderfully tomato-y moussaka (no bechamel here!), but i desperately hope they bring it back. In addition to reliably tasty grub, the service is fast, friendly, and courteous. Rakka makes one of my favorite meals in my favorite 'hood.

delivery was as stated - no complaints there. The hummus was lacking oomph. Babaganoush was just ok.
The shwarma tasted good but good have been warmer but I think i was a little farther away from the restaurant to expect a super hot delivery.
All in all...eh.

Half of the lamb in the shawarma sandwich was WAY over cooked and rock solid. I'm surprised I didn't chip a tooth while biting into it. Falafel was pretty good (though very greasy).

there's nothing to say except the chicken kebab sandwich is legendary. LEGENDARY. i think i eat here 2-3x a week and i honestly can't stop.

First of all, delivery was VERY FAST!!! The estimated delivery time was 45-60 minutes, and my meal arrived in about 15! Very impressive. Also, the food was delicious. The falafel was still (literally) steaming hot when it arrived, and was flavorful, and crispy, and very fresh tasting. I also ordered baklava, which was a much larger piece than I expected, and it tastes homemade. All around, a great meal. I'm very satisfied with the whole experience!

I ordered lunch from this restaurant this afternoon and after it was delivered, I discovered that the restaurant got half of my order correct. I called them to inform them of their error, but the guy at the restaurant insisted that they were busy and that he would 'give it to me next time,' (whatever that means). The guy didn't even apologize nor did he ask me for my order # so that he could 'give it to me next time.' I was expecting them to apologize AND offer to bring me what I had ordered--was this too much to ask??? Needless to say, I will not patronize them in the future. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Best falafel in EV. Love the couscous and hummus. Chicken kebab was delicious, lamb not as good. I really like that they have whole wheat pita, plus whole wheat wraps. But I don't know why the WW pita's not an option for many of the entrees (choice of plain pita or wrap).

took an hour to deliver. falafel was cold. order was prepared incorrectly (asked for certain sides and they gave me others).
had to purchase food elsewhere to fulfill my appetite.

I never write reviews, but this food made me question if it was wise for me to even eat it. The Greek salad was nothing more than a handful of iceberg lettuce with diced tomatoes, a couple olives that looked old, and some old looking (and tasting) feta cheese. The "Fresh Pita" was actually stale. It was so chewy I assume it had been sitting out for hours and was zapped in the microwave before delivery. The chicken sandwich was ok (2 stars)--but it again was stale pita with the same iceberg and tomatoes in my "salad" so I wasn't very impressed. The chicken was fine, nothing special, but something makes me think everything was sitting under a hot lamp for hours. Mamoud's is way better. I'll never order from here again or visit the restaurant. $14 for iceberg and stale pita? So bad.

fantastic, and fast.
Posted 5 years ago by S N.
The food is VERY cheap but very standard and flavorless. The falafel sandwiches are just falafel, pita, a tiny bit of overly diced lettuce and a bit of tomato. Even if you ask for sauces, the tahini is a bit bitter and flavorless and the hot sauce is just a bit too hot. Good if you're broke, but I feel like there's a lot more places you can spend your $5 in East Village and still fill you up.

Excellent every time i order here (which is like 3-4 times a week I'd say). Get the chicken gyro. The hummus is the best in the east village too. Can't recommend this place enough!

Feta dip and hummus are delicious! Falafel pita a little messy but very tasty.

delivery was prompt and friendly, but have to rate this place a thumbs down. lentil soup was watery, chicken was dry and mayonaise was drizzeled all over my salad making it inedible. sorry.
